Phase One Certified Professional Training Program

The next Phase One Certified Professional Training Program is at Holborn Studios in London, with date TBC. If you would like to be put on the waiting list, please email info@teamworkphoto.com.

For some time Phase One felt that proper training and certification was missing from digital photography. When we use digital assistants (or digital techs, or operators, as they are also known) is there any way to be 100% sure that they are qualified to do the job, other than their experience to date?

If you look at every other section of the IT industry there are courses available which lead to qualifications and certifications. Yet when it comes to digital photography, and looking after all the data from a shoot, nothing exists.

So they set out to change that by introducing the Phase One Certified Professional training program which has now been running for 5 years, with many courses in the USA, UK and other major global destinations.

The Phase One Certified Professional Training Program:

The POCP is a two-day course and will be run at a central London studio. Staff from Phase One’s technical support department run the course with help from us at Teamwork Digital, and between us, we supply all of the cameras and lenses needed for the course. All we ask is that you bring along your own laptop and tablet.

Course contents:

  • the technology behind Phase One digital backs and cameras
  • trouble-shooting computers, backs, and cameras;
  • some smart workflow tips for Capture One Pro
  • advanced operation of backs, etc.

Simply attending the course is not sufficient to gain certification. To pass the course and become a Phase One Certified Professional you must complete the required coursework at the ProProf’s website with a minimum 80% pass mark. The coursework comprises a number of online modules which take you through the every-day use of Capture One Pro and ensures that by the time you attend the POCP event you have a good intermediate working knowledge of the software. To help in this endeavour, at the end of each module there is a quick quiz that can be retaken until you achieve the expected pass mark. This ensures that those who attend the POCP course are then in a position to learn the advanced techniques that Phase One require to ensure that you are of a level to become a Phase One Certified Professional. Each day is made up on average of 50% theory and 50% practical work.

As an introduction for 2016, the POCP test is now completed online, in the candidates own time, rather than at the end of the course. This has been done to make more time available in class to ensure everyone has the opportunity to take part in the practical elements of the second day, as well as ask any questions before the course finishes. This has also allowed Phase One to put facilities in place to the online test to help anyone with special requirements. The test requires a minimum 80% pass mark in order to receive official POCP accreditation.

On the second day, we give you the opportunity to meet and mingle with your fellow industry colleagues at a networking lunch in a relaxed environment where you can enjoy a meal and drink and network with your fellow Phase One Certified Professional candidates.

What you get with the POCP course

Those that succeed and pass the course are able to call themselves a Phase One Certified Professional and will be listed at www.phaseone.com. Each participant will also receive a free subscription to the ProProf’s training program.

Class sizes are kept small, with a maximum of 15 on each course to ensure a good learning environment and time for one-on-one questions and answers.

The cost for the course has been kept as low as possible, at only £395.00 + VAT for the two-day event. We really hope that you are able to support this initiative and would be pleased to welcome you to the course! You can find more information here.

Please give me a call should you wish to discuss this further or have any further questions before confirming your place on the course.

Booking can be easily made by adding to the cart above. Once payment has been received, the ProProfs subscription and details are supplied, where you will be able to ready yourself for the two-day seminar.

Additionally, if you have any specific educational requirements or, if English is not your first language, please do not hesitate to bring this to my attention and we will be happy to meet your needs in the most discreet and professional way possible.

As always thank you and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Steve Martin

Passed POCP more than 2 years ago?

The Phase One Certified Professional certification lasts for two years. Because there have been so many developments in Phase One technology in this time, from IQ4 digital backs to Capture One 20, Phase One have decided that recertification will require taking the full course again.

If you have taken the Phase One Certified Professional Training Program and your certification has expired, we want to continue to partner with you. Therefore we will offer you the course at a discount. To order this, please choose “Recertification” from the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
