New Generation Lee Filter Holder for 100 System

Replacing the popular and everlasting Lee Foundation Holder was never going to be easy but after 25 years Lee Filters have finally released the Lee 100 Holder. The New Generation Composite Holder that offers lighter weight, greater torsional stability and even greater level of security for the adapter ring.

Just like the Lee Foundation Holder, the Lee 100 Holder is designed for use with 100mm x 100mm, 100mm x 125mm and 100mm x 150mm Filters.

Utilising countless feedback from photographers over the existing Lee Foundation Holder, the Lee 100 Holder addressed a number of points with it’s novel design. Using a carbon fibre structure the new holder is 16% lighter than the foundation holder with a consequent advantage in torsional stability. Less flexing when a heavy filter like a polariser is being rotated. A new bidirectional locking mechanism allows for the safe but secure rotation of the holder but it can also be locked completely. Perfect if using a number of filters and the holder may become heavier increasing a likelihood of the adapter ring being released accidentally.

Updated design, enhanced features

One of the main criticisms of the Lee Foundation Holder was the difficulty in being able to replace the filter slots (blades) easily. Without the dedicated screwdriver, this was a difficult or impossible task. Even more difficult if attempting to do this in the field with a real risk of loosing the screws in the process. The new holder uses a easily replaceable set of filter blades that can be clipped on or off by hand but even easier with the supplied Blade Removal Tool.

Addressing another complaint about the Foundation Holder was in using a polariser. The special filter ring had to be screwed in to place before a polariser could be used. Troublesome as the photographer has to decide if the holder was going to be pre-fitted with a ring before use or do without. Trying to fit a polarising ring during the shoot was never going to be easy as the holder had to dismantled and reassembled using the screwdriver and screws supplied. The canny photographer would buy a second holder to have the option.

The new holder now has a dedicated polariser, a separately available Lee 100 Polariser is attached to a polariser ring which merely clips onto the holder. It’s secure and can be just as easily removed by pinching the sides. A great and time saving addition.

Fully compatible with the existing Lee 100 Series of adapter rings.
