The Formatt 100 ND Soft Grad master kit features a neutral gray effect at the top of the filter that gradually transitions to clear at the center of the filter. The main function of a graduated ND is to balance the luminosity of the sky to the terrain below. The soft edge grad is the most popular and most versatile grad we make because it’s easy to blend the gradual transition into an undulating horizon. Formatt-Hitech filters are made from the highest quality 1.5mm optical resin.
Soft Edge graduated filters transition across the filter toward the center, and although there is a horizon line, it is subtle. This allows for horizon transitions to be more easily hidden in a scene, especially with an undulating horizon line such as mountains, buildings or trees.
Soft Edge grads are essential for both fine art photographers and professional cinematographers alike, and are the most popular grads we make.

Both linear and circular polarisers are available from Lee Filters in both a rotating 105mm diameter ‘screw in’ version and a 100x100mm square version. The 100mm square polarisers are to be used in the filter holder in a standard 2mm resin filter slot; and the entire holder is then rotated to achieve the correct polarisation state. This is recommended for studio use or for when only the polariser and, possibly, standard filters are to be used.
